A one-person software studio

Software for the people who test what gets built.

I'm Tyler Gorman. I manage construction materials testing at a geotech firm in Florida — job sites by day, the lab in between. Nights and weekends, I build small tools for the problems I kept hitting in the field. If one saves your crew an afternoon of rework, it's done its job.

Who's behind this

Tyler Gorman, Construction Services Manager at a geotechnical and materials testing firm on Florida's Gulf Coast. ACI certified. Day to day that means concrete, masonry, soils and geotech across FDOT, USACE and private work — sampling and breaks, nuclear gauge densities, Proctors and LBR, CMEC-accredited lab procedure, and the bid invitations that pile up in between.

Every tool here started as something I needed on a Tuesday. CalcDesk exists because I kept redoing the same math in the truck and the lab spreadsheet broke whenever anyone touched a formula. Postail exists because I kept finding bid deadlines ten emails deep. GridTally exists because paper field records don't survive a dispute.

That's the whole pitch: these were built by someone who has to live with the output. I'm not a software company that read about construction. If something's wrong, email me — it's one person reading them, and I read every one.

CalcDesk

Live Lab & materials calc

Proctor curves, sieve analysis, density acceptance, and LBR. I built it because I kept redoing the same math in the truck, and the lab spreadsheet broke every time someone touched a formula. It runs the numbers, checks them against spec, and shows its work.

Postail

Live Bid deadline tracking

Forward an invitation to bid and it reads the deadline out of the email, then reminds you a week out, three days out, and the morning it's due. Every bid platform only shows you the invites it sent. Your inbox has all of them.

GridTally

Live Field records

Crew time, locations and field notes, captured on the phone that's already in their pocket. Paper gets lost, memories get argued with, and neither holds up six months later when someone asks who was on site. Field records that hold up.

How I ship

These are small tools built by one person, in the hours around a day job. That means they do a few things carefully instead of everything at once, and previews stay closed until they're worth paying for. Something off, or a tool you wish existed? Email me — I read every one.
